About Kings Mountain
Kings Mountain Elementary School (KMES), one of four elementary schools of the Cabrillo Unified School District, emerges at the end of a winding forest road atop the Santa Cruz Mountains overlooking Half Moon Bay. Since 1952, KMES has taught generations of Mountain and Coastside children, offering a three-classroom model for its 60 students: one classroom for grades TK/K/1, 2/3, and 4/5. Students are held accountable for all aspects of their education, and they discover what it means to take responsibility for their own learning. Along the way, they learn to respect one another, celebrate diversity, and care for the environment. Involved parents, approachable teachers, and strong community involvement are central to the school's success, and together, they foster the development of creative, courageous, and compassionate human beings.
